Furnace and Heat Pump Repair in Mount Juliet, TN

Most homes in Mount Juliet were built in the last thirty years or so, which means a lot of heating systems here are reaching the age where they start acting up. Donelson-Air LLC is a family-owned HVAC contractor based in Donelson, just down I-40. We've been repairing furnaces and heat pumps across the east side for over 25 years. Licensed and insured, rated 5.0 on Google. Call or text 615-601-0591.

How Mount Juliet Homes Are Heated

We work all over the 37122 area: off Mt. Juliet Road and North Mt. Juliet Road, along Lebanon Road, around Providence, and in the subdivisions toward Old Hickory Lake. Many of these houses are two stories with the equipment in the attic, and plenty have two systems, one for each floor. Most heat with a heat pump and electric backup strips. Others have a gas furnace, or a heat pump with a gas furnace as backup. Many of the original builder-grade units are now getting old.

Common Heating Problems We See Here

  • The thermostat shows "aux" or "emergency heat" a lot, and the electric bill jumps

  • The outdoor heat pump unit stays iced over instead of clearing itself

  • The upstairs or downstairs system quits while the other keeps running

  • A high-efficiency furnace in the attic shuts down because its condensate drain is clogged, or frozen during a hard cold snap

  • Igniter, flame sensor and blower motor failures on gas furnaces

What a Visit Looks Like

Call or text and tell us which system is acting up and what it's doing. We test the whole system, including the outdoor unit if you have a heat pump, find the real cause, and tell you the price before any work begins. After the repair, we run it and confirm it's heating properly before we leave.

Repair or Replace?

A repair is usually the right call on a system that's under about ten years old with one failed part. If your heat pump is 10 to 15 years old, or your furnace is 15 to 20, and it needs a compressor, a coil or a heat exchanger, we'll show you repair and replacement side by side. With two systems, we'll tell you if one still has plenty of life left.

Honest Winter Tips

  • A heat pump outdoor unit that steams or goes quiet for a few minutes is usually just defrosting. That's normal.

  • Don't crank the thermostat way up on a cold morning. With a heat pump, that can switch on the backup strips and cost more.

  • Book a fall tune-up before the first cold snap, and change filters on both systems.

Mount Juliet Furnace Repair FAQs

Is it normal for my heat pump to run all the time when it's cold?

In freezing weather, long run times are normal. If it runs nonstop and the house still won't warm up, call us.

What does "aux heat" mean on my thermostat?

It means the backup heat is on. Seeing it now and then is fine. Seeing it constantly usually means the heat pump needs service.
